The women’s basketball team has gone on a tear the last several weeks, winning four consecutive games, including an 83-48 victory at Penn in Saturday’s Ivy League opener.
The women’s basketball team will look to get back on track as it faces the fourth-best team in the country: the Stanford Cardinal. Stanford’s only loss came to No. 2 Connecticut early in the season. The Cardinal (6-1) will present a difficult test for the Tigers (7-3), as a top-ranked team that features some of the best players in college basketball and has not lost at home since the 2006-07 season.
The women’s basketball team has had a successful season so far, accumulating seven wins in eight games and claiming the best record in the Ivy League. The Tigers lead the conference in points allowed and scoring margin, an indication of the team’s tremendous defensive play so far. Princeton also features junior forward Niveen Rasheed, one of the best players in the league. Rasheed leads the league in rebounds per game with 7.6 and is third in scoring with 16.9 points per game.
The women’s basketball team was handed its first loss of the season on Thursday night, falling to undefeated No. 24 Delaware by an 81-70 score. The Blue Hens scored the first 14 points of the game and led comfortably for the rest of the game, keeping Princeton winless all-time against nationally-ranked teams.
The women’s basketball team handled the Lafayette Leopards in an impressive 87-47 rout on Monday night. This was Princeton’s second win in as many games this season, and, so far, it appears Princeton’s success from the last two seasons has carried over.
The women’s basketball team had a successful season in 2010-11, posting a 13-1 conference record to win the Ivy League and reach the NCAA Tournament. When the Tigers open their season on Friday, they will look to repeat some of that success and get revenge against one of the few teams that beat them last season, St. Joseph’s.
The women’s soccer team was dominant on Tuesday night at Roberts Stadium as it defeated the Utah Valley Wolverines 5-1. Princeton outshot Utah Valley 21-5 in an impressive win that extended the Tigers’ current streak to four games. The hosts jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in this game and never looked back, as Utah Valley’s only goal would come late in the second half.
The men’s soccer team got a much-needed win on Tuesday evening at Roberts Stadium, defeating the Lafayette Leopards 2-1 in a physical matchup that was televised by ESPNU. The game, although close in score, was generally dominated by Princeton, which hopes to turn around what has so far been a disappointing season. The Tigers had won only two of 10 games entering the evening.
