“I remember sitting in class here,” Jonathan Safran Foer ’99 said as he sat down with creative writing professor Joyce Carol Oates for an armchair discussion, “Writing Life,” in McCosh Hall 50 on Thursday. “It’s strange and exciting to be back and on stage.”
Composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim and Frank Rich, former drama critic and columnist for The New York Times, spoke on Monday as a part of the Public Lectures Series in McCarter Theater.
Ambassador Barbara Bodine, former U.S. ambassador to Yemen and lecturer in the Wilson School, discussed patterns of the Arab Spring in Whig Hall on Sunday. Bodine is also the director of the Wilson School’s Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative.
Dean of Admission Janet Rapelye confirmed on Thursday that all Orange Key guides will be paid starting this semester. “Our perspective is that we view the tours to be of importance to the mission of the University, and we are now paying the guides for their work,” Rapelye said.
