An online petition to counter demands made by Black Justice League protesters has gained over 800 signatures since launching on Thursday afternoon, as of Saturday at 1 p.m. Drafted by Josh Zuckerman ’16 and Evan Draim ’16, the petition calls upon the University to promote “increased dialogue and the creation of a process that properly considers the input of all students and faculty, not merely those who are the loudest.” Draim is a former Editorial Board member for The Daily Princetonian. The petition followed a 32-hour-long sit-in protest by several members of the newly formed BJL in the office of University President Christopher Eisgruber ’83.

Undergraduate Student Government presidential candidate and current vice president Aleksandra Czulak ’17 said she wants to increase USG’s collaboration with various on-campus organizations and students not involved in USG.Czulak said she is seeking to improve collaboration between various constituencies on campus, bringing them together to advance policies and programs that most effectively serve the student body.

Departments have seen a slow and steady rise in international — non-U.S. born and non-naturalized citizen — applicants and admissions since 2009 across doctoral, masters and non-degree graduate programs at the University, according to data made available by the University’s Graduate School. Over the years, a large portion of international students have gravitated toward programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fieldsacross the United States.There are similar trends at the national level, Rajika Bhandari, deputy vice president of research and evaluation at the Institute for International Education, said. She added that engineering and business management degrees are most popular among international students in both graduate and undergraduate programs. China, India and South Korea are predominant countries in sending students to U.S.

Senior Dinner raises $2,300 for fight against food insecurity

The Class of 2016 has raised $2,300 for the FEED Foundation through online credit card and cash donations at its Senior Dinner on Friday.All donations from the night will be used to provide meals through FEED to fight food insecurity, both domestically and abroad, class treasurer Richard Lu ’16said.According to Lu, the event was sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students and the 2016 Class Government.

News & Notes: 31 percent of Harvard senior women report having experienced sexual assault

Thirty-one percent of Harvard’s female undergraduate students in their senior year reported experiencing some form of sexual assault over their college career, theHarvard Crimsonreported. The results come from a sexual climate survey conducted by the Association of American Universities in spring 2015. Among the institutions surveyed in the 27 AAU schools, Harvard had the highest response rate, and the number of respondents who said they experienced “nonconsensual penetration and sexual touching” was above the average.

Graduate students move into Lakeside Graduate Housing after delays

The Lakeside Graduate Housing complex opened on June 1 after a yearlong delay. The delays were due to the complexity of the project and contractual relationships, The Daily Princetonian reported in October 2014. The complex was originally scheduled to be completed in July 2014, but delays pushed the scheduled completion to September, then to December and finally to June. Lakeside is the University’s newest on-campus housing option, and features 329 units, including 74 townhouses and 255 apartments, and is now home to over 700 graduate students. With its proximity to campus and to other graduate student housing, the Lakeside Graduate Housing seeks to cater to graduate students’ housing needs and to strengthen the graduate student community. Andrew Kane, assistant vice president in the Office of the Vice President for University Services, said that Lakeside has now consolidated the student populations of the Butler and Stanworth apartments into one location on campus. Kane explained that when planning for Lakeside began in 2005, the administration sought input from the graduate student body.
