Athletes spearhead biannual Best Buddies Field Day

This past Sunday, the Princeton chapter of Best Buddies hosted 150 community members at their biannual Best Buddies field day on Plummer Field for an afternoon of kickball, baseball, soccer, egg tossing, and much more.

Princeton Athletics hosts annual Princeton Varsity Club youth clinic

Princeton Athletics and the Princeton Varsity Club (PVC) hosted the PVC Youth Sports Clinic on the Finney-Campbell Fields. The clinic featured 120 Princeton student-athletes across several of Princeton’s 38 varsity sports who ran stations in which children from the greater Princeton area learned the basics of soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, water polo, and more.

Walk-on athletes play a significant role across the 38 Princeton varsity athletic programs, filling in gaps and adding depth that coaches often cannot fill due to pressure to limit numbers of recruited athletes. Walk-ons come in all shapes and sizes — some communicating with coaches while in high school and some choosing a new sport after coming to campus — but their presence is highly valued by coaches and teammates alike regardless of background.
