Senior tri-captain Colin Cordes of the men’s swimming team is a school record- holder and two-time Ivy League conference champion in the 200-meter backstroke. Cordes, an economics major, calls a spot 36 miles north of Chicago home. The ‘Prince’ recently sat down with Colin to learn more about the swimmer’s “Orange Team,” a hypothetical Cloister Inn gang battle and the fallout from the team’s hit video, “Get Better, Hasler.”

Determined to hold their own against the top players in the nation, juniors Matt Siow and Matt Spindler battled back from an early defeat to beat numerous top-ranked doubles pairings to win the Consolation Doubles title.

Field Hockey: Tigers win in double OT, draw UConn in NCAA Tournament

Seventy minutes of regulation and 15 minutes of overtime were not enough to decide the NCAA Play-In Game on Tuesday afternoon, as the field hockey team and Rider remained in a scoreless tie. Four minutes into the second overtime period, however, senior midfielder Alyssa Pyros sent a penalty corner in toward the top of the circle, where freshman midfielder Sydney Kirby was waiting. Kirby sent a hard shot into the cage, clinching an NCAA Tournament bid for the Tigers with a 1-0 sudden-death victory at Class of 1952 Stadium.

Men's Water Polo: Navy gets revenge in Southern final

The best way to describe East Coast water polo is inconsistent, and this year has been no exception. Despite ending the regular season atop the league standings, the men’s water polo team finished the season in second place after losing 16-5 to Brown at the Ivy League Championships. The Tigers then went 2-1 this weekend at Southern Championships, No. 15 Princeton will enter Eastern Championships as the Southern Division’s No. 2 seed.

Women's Soccer: 3-1 defeat at Penn brings season’s end

Last week, the women’s soccer team finished the season with split games between Ivy League leaders Cornell and Penn. The Tigers hosted Cornell for a 1-0 shutout victory in their final home game of the season. Princeton then traveled to Penn, where they fell to the Quakers 3-1 to cap a tough Ivy League campaign.

Competing in one of the most intense Heptagonal Championships in history, the men’s cross-country team ran away with the Ivy League title on Oct. 29 at the West Windsor fields. Powering through some of the worst weather conditions imaginable, the Tigers displayed their toughness, persevering over the 8K distance to repeat as team champions.

After a tough weekend at the Ivy Shootout, the men’s hockey team opened up ECAC Hockey conference play last week with middling results. The Tigers lost their conference opener to No. 19 Quinnipiac before bouncing back and securing their first win of the season at Harvard. On Saturday, the Tigers finished a busy week with a 5-3 loss to conference-leading Dartmouth. Despite a sub-.500 record, Princeton has seen its underclassmen contributing in droves and its special teams play heating up.

Crew: Men's heavyweights take 1st at Princeton Chase

In the aftermath of a substantial winter storm that left a blanket of ice over the Shea Rowing Center and most of campus, the annual Princeton Chase was held on Lake Carnegie on Oct. 30. The Tiger crews were mostly unfazed by the unseasonable cold, as the heavyweight men took first in the varsity eight division, and the lightweight men and open women each took second.

Football: Snow steals the show as Tigers lose 24-7

In the sport of football, perhaps nothing is more romanticized than a game played in snow. Since the Ivy League season ends in mid-November, the nation’s oldest football program rarely gets to have that experience, save for possibly a few flurries during a year-ending game in Hanover, N.H. But when the Tigers lined up to kick off on Saturday afternoon, two inches of snow covered Powers Field and much more swirled around Princeton Stadium, instantly providing a scene that was as memorable as it was bizarre.

Women's Volleyball: Team tests Ivy’s top record on the road

The women’s volleyball team still has a great chance of winning the Ivy League title, but it must perform at its best in the upcoming matches to stay atop the group. The Tigers (14-6 overall, 7-1 Ivy League) are currently tied for first place in the league standings with Yale. With their only Ivy loss being a 3-0 sweep at Columbia, currently ranked third in the league, the Tigers have an advantage in the second half of their league season, having already defeated five of the six teams left.
