Princeton to ‘encourage’ mask-wearing for vaccinated individuals, stops short of mask mandate

Given new CDC guidance around indoor masking due to the rise in the Delta variant of COVID-19, unvaccinated individuals will be required to wear masks indoors on campus. This rule will likely only impact a small portion of the population, with over 90 percent of employees and around 90 percent of students already having verified that they are vaccinated.

Named after Laura Wooten, who passed away in 2019, the law requires all middle school students in New Jersey to receive civics education. “She served as an inspiration for Princeton students, and we hope that she will now inspire generations of students across the state,” a University spokesperson noted.

Princeton revises fall travel guidelines, permits 'feasible' domestic travel for undergraduates

Domestic travel will be permitted for undergraduate students in the fall semester, with the new guidelines taking effect on Aug. 23. However, University-sanctioned international travel remains suspended for undergraduates, with one exception for those traveling to approved Study Abroad programs.

Princeton revises guidelines for fall, eliminates masking and social distancing requirements

Jamal’s appointment comes after an extensive search to replace former Dean Cecilia Rouse, who is currently serving as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers. She grew up in Ramallah, a Palestinian city in the central West Bank, and her appointment as SPIA Dean comes at a time of renewed focus on Palestinian lives, narratives, and scholarship with the latest iteration of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Princeton to divest from some sectors of the fossil fuel industry

The University Board of Trustees has announced that Princeton will divest and disassociate from the thermal coal and tar sands segments of the fossil fuel industry, as well as companies currently involved in climate disinformation. The University will also work towards making its $26.6 billion endowment carbon neutral.

Gene Andrew Jarrett ’97 named next Dean of the Faculty

Gene Andrew Jarrett ’97 will take over as Princeton’s next Dean of the Faculty on Aug. 1, as well as the William S. Tod Professor of English. Jarrett has studied African American literary history, among other subjects, and is coming to Princeton from his position as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at New York University.
