One week into classes, some students have already gone through the University’s contact tracing process. But so far, “based on contact tracing and analysis,” viral transmission at the University does not seem to be an issue, according to Deputy University Spokesperson Michael Hotchkiss.

The total budget for the fall is approximately $600,000, an increase from the typical $200,000. Significant spending areas included Tigers in Town, Lawnparties, and a renovation to the USG office located in Frist Campus Center, with budget allocations of $150,000, $160,000, and $120,000 respectively.

After Princeton experienced severe weather on the evening of Sept. 1, the first day of fall classes, widespread flooding and downed trees caused several classes to return to a virtual format on Thursday — after just one day of in-person classes.

A number of dorm buildings flooded on Princeton’s campus on Wednesday night after Princeton, along with several other New Jersey counties, was placed under a tornado warning. Students were advised to take cover during the alert.

On Sept. 1, undergraduate students dispersed around campus as they headed to their first in-person classes of the fall semester, almost a year and a half after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the University to adopt online learning as its main form of interactive education. As classes began, Deputy University Spokesperson Michael Hotchkiss noted in an email to The Daily Princetonian that viral transmission does not seem to be an issue on campus.

“On the one hand, I’m really happy because I miss teaching in-person,” Alberto Bruzos Moro told The Daily Princetonian. “On the other hand, I’m worried because, you know, having a kid at home who is immunocompromised, it is a little concerning. At least until he can get the vaccine.”

On Princeton’s campus, Alberto Bruzos Moro is the director of the Spanish language program, slated to teach two seminars this fall. Off campus, he’s a father to an immunocompromised nine-year-old son.

Given new CDC guidance around indoor masking due to the rise in the Delta variant of COVID-19, unvaccinated individuals will be required to wear masks indoors on campus. This rule will likely only impact a small portion of the population, with over 90 percent of employees and around 90 percent of students already having verified that they are vaccinated.
