Eisgruber made the recommendation to the University Board of Trustees in a letter dated May 10 based on a November report by Dean of the Faculty Gene Jarrett, according to a copy of his letter reviewed by the Journal.

According to a bill passed by Gov. Phil Murphy and other lawmakers last year, NJ retailers and food service businesses will no longer be permitted to use or distribute single-use plastic bags. The bill goes into effect on May 4.
