Professor misses U. conference due to denied visa

Francois Héran, an anthropologist, sociologist, and demographer, was unable to obtain his visa in time to visit the United States for a conference at the University last Friday.  Héran suspects that the reason is a past visit to Tehran, Iran, for another demographic conference last year.

This year, Campus Dining no longer wants napkins to be thrown in compost bins. Napkins interfere with its efforts to accurately measure food waste in the residential dining halls. U. launches Title IX investigation into German professor amid student complaints

After two female graduate students in the tiny German department left abruptly last year — leaving men to outnumber women two to one — student pressure forced administrators to organize a town hall. A third female graduate student was gone by the end of the year.  They said the department’s treatment of women had affected their work and research and was a key factor in their departure. The University’s Title IX office opened an investigation into a German professor this summer.

Tuck-Ponder reflects on public service, education

Michele Tuck-Ponder’s passion for civil service has been a lifelong affair. Originally from the Bronx, Tuck-Ponder grew up in Teaneck, a small town in northern New Jersey. She received an education in one of the first school districts in the United States that bused students to different elementary schools for the sake of racial integration.

Former Forbes DSL Thompson becomes new associate dean

The now-former Director of Student Life at Forbes, Mellisa Thompson, has been named the new associate dean in the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students. Thompson has worked as the DSL for Forbes College for the past five years. She started in her new office as of Monday, but she will continue many of her responsibilities at Forbes College until a new DSL for Forbes is appointed.

Vertical farming: Key to meeting U. Sustainability Plan

Dr. Paul Gauthier, a postdoctoral research associate in the Geosciences department, created the Princeton Vertical Farming Project (PVFP) this past April.
