Princeton Advocates for Justice deliver petition opposing Trump’s new executive order

On Mar. 27, Princeton Advocates for Justice, an “intersectional undergraduate student coalition of 25 Princeton University student groups advocating for the advancement of basic human rights” that formed in the wake of President Donald Trump’s election, released a letter signed by 32 student groups and 600 faculty urging University President Christopher Eisgruber ’83 to officially oppose Trump’s newest executive order barring entry to citizens of six Middle Eastern countries and limiting refugee entrance.

Princeton professor serves as on-call ethicist for Citigroup

“It makes a lot of sense for a financial institution like Citigroup to get external advice on ethics from an expert,” de Swaan said. “An expert on ethics will have thought about these issues for a long time, will be able to provide an outside-in perspective that is inherently more objective, and can share some useful parameters or frameworks to guide managerial decisions.”

Graduate students receive update on unionization

On Monday night, four panelists from NYU and Rutgers shared their experience with higher education unions and encouraged University graduate students to unionize. Last October, graduate students voted to affiliate their union, Princeton Graduate Students United (PGSU), with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). Now, PGSU organizers are holding meetings and events to gather feedback on the union’s potential future. This will involve whether they continue with the process of unionization by holding elections for representatives, gaining recognition from the University, and negotiating a contract.

Committee proposes changes to Block 95, adds points system

One of the most notable changes under the new plan includes alterations to the Block 95 meal plan, which is offered to juniors, seniors, and graduate students. The new version of the plan will feature an additional 250 dining points, built-in at no extra cost, that can be used at the nine campus cafés: Frist Food Gallery, Café Vivian, Witherspoon Café, Woodrow Wilson School Café, E-Quad Café, Frick Chemistry Café, Genomics Café, Chancellor Green Café, and the Atrium Café. Furthermore, these points can be used during school breaks, a new concept that deviates from the current system in which students have to purchase additional plans exclusive to break weeks.

Dining hall staff members sleep in Frist MPR in preparation for blizzard

Members of the dining staff of all six residential colleges used cots brought over from Dillon Gym to sleep. According to one staff member, this is not the first time dining hall staffers have slept on campus in preparation for a storm or other inclement weather event. In previous instances, one staff member said, workers have slept in Dillon Gym.

Young Alumni Trustee finalists selected

he University’s Office of Alumni Affairs has announced that candidates Aleksandra Czulak ’17, Andrew Sun ’17, and Achille Tenkiang ’17 have passed the primary round of the Young Alumni Trustee Election, and will move on to the General Election, to be held from May 2 to May 24, according to a press release from Cathy Phillips. The election results were verified and confirmed by an election services company hired to run the election.
