Tigers fall to Penn in overtime

In shocking fashion, Princeton football suffered its third Ivy League loss of the season. The Tigers (5-3 overall, 2-3 Ivy League) fell to the Penn Quakers (5-3, 4-1) by an overtime score of 26-23. With the clock stopped and just four seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, senior placekicker Nolan Bieck lined up for a 35-yard field goal which would have clinched a 23-20 Princeton victory.

Football faces tough challenge in Columbia, Mornhinweg

After pounding Lehigh this past Saturday 52-26, the undefeated Tigers look to continue their successes this season as they open Ivy League play against Columbia (0-2, 0-0 Ivy League). Princeton (2-0, 0-0) overwhelmed the Mountain Hawks (2-2) with outstanding play on both ends of the ball; highlights included strong passing play by junior quarterback Chad Kanoff and sophomore quarterback John Lovett, multiple rushing touchdowns from junior running back Joe Rhattigan and a stunning interception made by junior linebacker RJ Paige. With two solid victories beneath their belts, the Tigers look to continue their progress moving forward.

Rex Ryan evidently resides in Princeton Stadium*

After being fired following a tumultuous and unsuccessful tenure as head coach of the New York Jets, Rex Ryan has pretty obviously been holing up at Princeton Stadium, about an hour south of his former team’s home stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. “I feel bad kicking him out, especially because he seems to think nobody’s noticed he’s there,” said Princeton football head coach Bob Surace ’90, who is arguably more likely to receive a head coaching position in the NFL than Ryan. Groundskeepers said they first became suspicious when they discovered a banner reading “Reappoint Ryan!” hanging from a flagpole in the stadium.
