“The University heard these demands before,” said one petition signatory. “It’s all about applying pressure at this point.”

Demonstrations have swept the nation in the weeks since the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. We spoke with six Princeton students about their experiences protesting, thoughts on recent activism, and hopes for change.
“The University is not pursuing the issue of immunity,” a spokesperson told the ‘Prince.’ Instead, it “will focus on the principles and initiatives outlined by the governor and attorney general” in a June 2 announcement.

Among the 260 individuals who earned over $1 million, only one was African American, one was Hispanic, and 30 were women, according to a source privy to recent information.
“We lived through the Wuhan experience remotely,” an organizer wrote. “So when it hit American soil, we knew how bad this could be.”
A point of pride for “Princeton for Bernie”: they’re the fastest growing campaign infrastructure on campus. “Everyone else seems to be dissolving,” Wittekind ’22 said.
Protesters criticized Hindutva and its targeting of Muslims, claiming that it undermines Hinduism’s most fundamental principles of equal citizenship and nondiscrimination.
The program would require students to complete one half-term course related to diversity and inclusion from a list pre-authorized by administrators. The proposal takes inspiration from the newly announced Culture and Difference distribution requirement for undergraduate students, which will commence with the Class of 2024 this fall.

Eisgruber also spoke at length on the contents of his “State of the University” letter, describing plans for University renovations and construction in the years to come, such as the building of several new academic buildings east of Washington Road, the demolition of Wilson College, and the construction of Perelman College.
Despite a lockdown at Princeton High School, local residents, University students, and a handful of high school students who left before the lockdown went into effect gathered to hear from speakers and voice their concerns.
The University had also taken an active role in advocating for Wang’s 2019 release. In a statement this morning, President Christopher Eisgruber expressed his joy regarding the release, and his gratitude towards all parties who mediated the release.
The Vietnam War brought unprecedented activism at the University in forms ranging from peaceful pickets and fasting to sieges on buildings and firebombing. It divided the campus deeply between radicals and conservatives, youths and adults, and draft refusers and ROTC cadets.
“7x9” is meant to bring awareness to the use of solitary confinement in prisons. SPEAR has held the “7x9” demonstration annually for the past seven years. The performance protest has typically been accompanied by a talk from a formerly incarcerated person. This year’s speaker was Mark Hopkins.
As president of the University, Wilson falsely asserted that no black student had ever attended the institution and actively prevented black applicants from being accepted, writing: “It is altogether inadvisable for a colored man to enter Princeton.” Over two hundred students, alumni, and faculty members gathered to protest at the dedication of the University’s new installation, “Double Sights,” which is meant to represent Woodrow Wilson’s complex legacy.
At 5:00 p.m. yesterday, students, faculty, and community members held a vigil in honor of Xiyue Wang, a Ph.D. student in History who has been detained in Iran for over three years on charges of espionage.
