The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) convened on April 13 for its weekly meeting to discuss plans for the next year, reflect on a recent pop-up event about the former McCosh Health Center hosted by the Undergraduate Student Life Committee (USLC), and vote on the passage of three budget proposals.

The three budget proposals were for an upcoming International Student Luncheon, a reunion gathering with past and present USG members, and a “Stress Less Week” held during Reading Period.

USG President Enzo Kho ’26 started the meeting by providing updates on plans for fall orientation’s Academic Expo and plans for the summer. Kho explained that at least one info session will be held over the summer for the newly-admitted Class of 2029 to “increase awareness about different clubs around campus.” USG will also finalize the fall budget for the 2025–26 academic year during two virtual meetings over the summer.

Kho also discussed the USLC pop-up event held on April 10, which gathered students to share their thoughts on the future of the former McCosh Health Center, calling it a “good initial pilot” for future pop-ups. This semester, Princeton’s University Health Services officially relocated to Frist Health Center.

“Some of the feedback [we] heard was expanding late meal seating, and another thing was more study spaces on campus, especially ones that opened for 24 hours,” Kho shared. A recent Opinion column published by The Daily Princetonian argued for the need for a formal 24/7 study space for students who study late at night, especially during midterms and finals.

Following these updates, three budget proposals were presented.

The first focused on the USG’s first International Student Luncheon and entailed a proposed budget of around $1,200 for catering. “We want to provide a place where students from international backgrounds [and] students from other backgrounds can come in and discuss issues related to international students and experiences,” Amy Park ’27, the USG’s Chief of Staff, said.

Park, alongside U-Councilors Luqmaan Bamba ’27 and Angela Li ’28, explained that the luncheon would allow international students to discuss shared experiences, such as post-graduation career opportunities and scholarship taxes.

The second proposal, presented by Park and Alumni Affairs Co-Chair Titus Kim ’27, requested around $2,330 for a reunion gathering of previous and current USG members to be held during Princeton Reunions. The proposed budget included costs for a celebratory cake, pins, drinks, and BBQ. A separate gala officially celebrating 50 years of USG will be held later next fall.

“While talking to a lot of alumni, I realized how important it is to reconnect with the past,” Park said. “They had a lot of questions about what currently USG is doing, but they also had a lot of nice ideas of what we could further do.”

Social Life Chair Anuj Krishnan ’27 and Social Chair Aum Dhruv ’27 put forth a third budget proposal requesting $1,300 for “Stress Less Week,” which features stress-relieving activities and treats during Reading Week in partnership with campus groups such as the Princeton Students Events Committee and Coffee Club. According to Krishnan and Dhruv, more libraries, including the Firestone, Stokes, East Asian, and Lewis libraries, have partnered with USG this semester to provide spaces for food and coffee heading into finals.

The pair emphasized the success of “Stress Less Week” last semester, which included a midnight breakfast, campfire, power yoga sessions, and Seeing Eye dogs.

All three budget proposals were passed without any opposing votes. The remainder of the meeting was dedicated to a working session with committee members.

All USG meetings are open to all students and faculty and are convened every Sunday, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Robertson 016. There is one more in-person USG meeting scheduled for the end of the semester.
