More than five days after he was last seen at Firestone Library on April 19, the search for Lauren Blackburn ’26 is still ongoing. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) sent a TigerAlert to the University community on Tuesday morning announcing the search.

In an email to the community on April 22, Vice President for Campus Life W. Rochelle Calhoun wrote that resources and support are available at Counseling and Psychological Services and the Office of Religious Life, as well as the residential colleges and graduate school.

“I will share an update when we know more, but in the meantime please hold Lauren in your thoughts as we attempt to locate him,” Calhoun wrote.

Calhoun sent additional emails on Wednesday and Thursday, informing the student body that the search for Blackburn is ongoing. The email stated that the search is being led by DPS with assistance from regional law enforcement.

DPS began a water search in Lake Carnegie late Monday night after a missing person’s phone pinged in the area. It is unclear whether the phone was Blackburn’s.

Blackburn was last seen on Saturday around 6 p.m. near Firestone Library wearing “blue jeans with torn knees, a yellow t-shirt with a black, zippered hooded sweatshirt, and blue, flat bottom shoes.” Blackburn is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair and is 23 years old.

Blackburn is a former staff Features writer for the ‘Prince.’

Blackburn, who graduated from a high school in Indiana and is an English major, is one of 22 students that were selected to receive the 2024 Sam Hutton Fund for the Arts which “support[s] undergraduate summer study, travel, and independent research in the Lewis Center for the Arts.”
