Last month, Richardson was on its feet as Grammy-winning Jazz artist Cécile McLorin Salvant finished a set that defied the labels of genre. Baroque ayres and jazz tunes blurred together as the singer sought to (in her own words) "make them songs again."
Salvant's return to Princeton comes a year after she was commissioned to compose a new body of music based on the Toni Morrison archives in Firestone Library. This week on Daybreak, we take a deep dive into the artist's intellectual and musical work on campus, with perspectives from professors, students, and Salvant herself.
