Student's tests returned negative for COVID-19, U. says

On Tuesday, March 17, the University announced that the student quarantined and tested for COVID-19 in McCosh Health Center has tested negative for the virus. 

The student was exhibiting flu-like symptoms and was tested and immediately placed in self-isolation on March 11 due to what the University’s latest update called “an abundance of caution.”

The student was previously confirmed by Deputy University Spokesperson Mike Hotchkiss to be an undergraduate. 

“The student has had no known exposure to anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 and had not recently traveled to any locations of concern,”  Hotchkiss stated at the time the student was tested. 

The University confirmed yesterday that a third staff member had tested positive for the virus. 

The Daily Princetonian continues to track the numbers of COVID-19 cases in New Jersey and Princeton. As of March 17 at 12:35 p.m., the number of positive cases in N.J. had reached 178.
