Railroad investor and Dinky devotee Henry Posner III ’77 recently renewed his interest in purchasing the Dinky line and keeping the station in its current location, according to The Times of Trenton. Publicity for the announcement comes on the heels of the Regional Planning Board of Princeton’s decision last month to allow the development of the University’s Arts and Transit Neighborhood.
Posner, who made a similar offer in the spring of 2011, is chairman of the Railroad Development Corporation and a member of Save the Dinky, an organization that works to prevent the Dinky move.
An NJ Transit spokeswoman said that Posner is not the first to express interest in the Dinky and that the agency will meet with those interested.
University Vice President and Secretary Robert Durkee ’69 told The Times that even if Posner were to purchase the line, the University would still have the right to move the station.
