After exciting dual meets in 2011 and 2012, the men’s swimming and diving team had no such drama against Navy on Saturday. Princeton submerged the Midshipmen 182-115 at DeNunzio Pool, winning 12 of 16 events to remain perfect this season.
Six of the Tigers’ event victories came from freshmen, led by Byron Sanborn, who took first place in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. Sophomore Michael Strand won the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly and was a part of the team’s winning 200-yard medley relay.
Two years ago, Navy became the first visiting team to beat Princeton in a dual meet at DeNunzio Pool — a streak spanning 21 years — with a 167-133 victory. Last January, Princeton edged the Midshipmen in a nail-biting meet decided by five points.
