Some students not to be admitted to Fifth, 10th Reunions tents

Partly due to concerns about underage drinking, students under the age of 21 who are not staying in interim housing and are not guests of either members of the Class of 2012, members of the Fifth Reunion class, the 10th Reunion class or any of their satellite classes, will not be admitted into the Fifth or 10th Reunions tents after 5 p.m.

The only attendees at Reunions affected by the change will be those under 21 who are attending Reunions as a guest of an alumnus who graduated before 2000. Associate Director of Reunions Mibs Southerland Mara said she did not know how many students this policy change would affect, as she noted that Reunions organizers do not track the number of student guests.

Students under the age of 21 who are staying at the University for Reunions through interim housing will still be able to gain admission to the Fifth and 10th Reunions tents, according to Southerland Mara. Additionally, students under the age of 21 who do not have interim housing but are registered as guests of members of the senior class or alumni of the Fifth or 10th Reunions or their satellites will still be allowed in the tents.

Southerland Mara said satellite classes of the Fifth Reunion include the Classes of 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2006 while the satellite classes of the 10th Reunion include the Classes of 2005, 2004, 2003, 2001 and 2000.

Southerland Mara explained that students staying in interim housing have the option of purchasing a wristband for Reunions. These students will receive "senior" wristbands — equivalent to those given to individuals who are guests of members of the senior class — and will be allowed to enter the tents.

Correction: Due to an editing error, a previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Associate Director of Reunions Mibs Southerland Mara was a graduate of the class of 1962. In fact, she is an honorary class member of the class of 1962. The 'Prince' regrets the error.
