This year Reunions wristbands have bar code “chips” and holograms which allow Public Safety personnel to better detect counterfeit wristbands, according to Executive Director of Public Safety Paul Ominsky. These new features allow Public Safety officers to use bar code readers and special lights to ensure the authenticity of the wristbands.
Ominsky explained in an email that these alterations were made in order to prevent underage students with counterfeit wristbands from gaining access to the tents where alcohol is served. Last year Public Safety confiscated a number of these fake wristbands, Ominsky said.
