Q: Where are you from and what is it like there?
A: I’m from Pittsburgh, Pa., and went to Mount Lebanon High School. It’s a small Midwestern town. It’s pretty cozy and homey.
Q: What was your “welcome to college” moment?
A: I wrote a five-paragraph essay for my first writing seminar paper. I wasn’t really sure what a thesis statement was.
Q: What is the greatest highlight of your sports career?
A: Winning the Ivy League Tournament my freshman year against Cornell at Cornell. It was a pretty special moment.
Q: Who is your quirkiest teammate and why?
A: We have a lot of quirky guys ... but I think [senior attackman] Luke Armour has to be quirkiest. He’s a rapper on the side. Social limelight. He’s also an herbal expert; he loves veggie drinks.
Q: What’s the best part about being an athlete on campus?
A: I think it’s coming in and having a network of people. You get to know all the athletes and we’re all pretty close. It’s also cool that we get to represent the University. We also get to know the girls’ teams pretty well.
Q: What’s the worst part about being an athlete on campus?
A: We have to miss a lot, sacrificing a lot of Thursday nights and class work, and not being able to do everything we’d want to.

Q: What’s the weirdest thing that’s happened to you during a lacrosse game?
A: My freshman year we played UMBC at home, and it was pouring rain. My pants got really wet and heavy, and I got knocked over and my pants fell right off.
Q: If you didn’t play lacrosse, what sport would you play?
A: I’d definitely play football. It’s definitely a Pittsburgh thing, so it’s a matter of where I came from. I joke around a lot and say I’m better than I used to be at it.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do when not practicing?
A: I watch a lot of “Game of Thrones.” If we don’t have practice, we take advantage of it and go out.
Q: What’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod?
A: I have a lot of “Titanic” and “Phantom of the Opera” music. I don’t know why ... it’s good study music I guess. I think the majority of the songs on my iPod would classify as embarrassing.
Q: What’s your role on the team?
A: I play defensive midfielder, which is the definition of a role player so I don’t put up a lot of points. The other teams will usually try to go for us. In brief, we’re supposed to stop the ball and put the ball into our [offensive players’] hands.
Q: Does the team have any odd rituals?
A: We do a roundup on Thursday nights before games, and senior speeches before games. Our biggest one is that after big wins, we play “Return of the Mack” by Mark Morrison in the locker room ... it’s kind of our motivation to get it done.
Q: If you were coach for a day, what would you do?
A: I’d let the defense play offense and the offense play defense.
