News & Notes: SFER chosen as finalist for White House competition

The five winners will meet and present their project to President Obama and participate in a culminating event celebrating the winners that will be aired by MTV.

“The opportunity to expose a whole lot more young people to the work we were doing was really appealing,” Morin said on SFER’s decision to participate in the contest.

Voting to select the top five is open to the public and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Mar. 3. SFER is currently in 10th place with 5,066 votes. An organization at the University of Arkansas is in first place with 33,198 votes.

Morin attributed the disparity in part to the relatively small size of Princeton’s campus but said that “if we highlight the fact that we’ve grown so quickly, people will be intrigued by that momentum.”
