During his time at Princeton, Crane was a member and officer of Cannon Club. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering and went on to work as a “successful businessman and serial entrepreneur,” according to an announcement of his death written by his son, Randall Crane ’88.
Throughout his time as chairman of the club’s graduate board, Crane dedicated himself to reopening Cannon.
“The grief is monumental but does not outweigh the gratitude that we owe the man who singlehandedly brought Cannon back,” graduate board member Bob Casey ’67 wrote in an email to Cannon alumni.
