Wettach initially declined to provide first round sign-in numbers on Sunday, citing club policy.
This number “does not alarm us,” Wettach said, because in previous years Cloister has filled to capacity in the second round and needed a wait-list.
“The lower number comes as a result of new competition on the Street, especially from Cannon,” he said. Several members of the “classic ‘floater-boater’ affiliated” sports teams chose to join Cannon this year, Wettach said.
“Their move makes this a fun time to be in Cloister,” Wettach added. “The previously cliquey team mentality is fading, opening up Cloister as a place for more than just teammates.”
