Drumm, who is one of the the team’s co-captains, has made her presence known throughout her career at Princeton. A two-time All-America in high school, she started in all 18 games of her freshman year, during which she had six-point games twice. She continued to impress during her sophomore year, being named honorable mention All-Ivy and second-team All-Region, especially after scoring five goals in the 2009 NCAA Quarterfinals. Last year, she was named first-team All-Ivy and All-Region, leading the team in scoring with 41 points. So far this year, she has earned 37 points, including 34 goals.
Devine made her first career start last year against Brown and quickly became a significant contributor to Princeton’s offense. She scored her first goals in that game and totaled 10 in that season. She has contributed five goals this season in 14 games.
Mauritz played in six games her junior year and was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll in 2010. She has started eight of the team’s 14 games this year.
Markowitz, who switched to defense last year after playing in 12 games in 2009, started her first game against Johns Hopkins University in 2010 and started the remainder of the team’s games before an injury ended her season prematurely. Returning this year, she has started 10 games, and the switch has proven well for the Tigers, who have constantly outscored opponents this spring.
Tochihara was named second-team All-Ivy and first-team All-Region, after starting all 16 games her junior year. She was named second-team All-America by IWLCA after boasting a 14-4 record during the 2009 season. She has played all but two minutes and 50 seconds of the team’s playing time this season, notching all but one of the team’s cumulative saves.
Princeton is coming off a resounding defeat of Ivy League opponent Columbia on Wednesday night at home, where the Tigers bested the Lions 18-10. Junior Cassie Pyle, the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, recorded three goals and four assists. Sophomore Sam Ellis, junior Barb Previ and Drumm contributed hat tricks as well.
The last time Princeton faced Penn State was in 2009, when the No. 7 Tigers took down No. 15 Penn State. Penn State is 9-6 on the season and will look to challenge Princeton’s strong offense on Saturday. The Nittany Lions are coming off a 10-7 victory against No. 18 Johns Hopkins, which they rallied to win in the second half. The game will be at Princeton Stadium at 1 p.m.
