The men’s and women’s track teams posted impressive results throughout the weekend at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The meet, which spanned Friday and Saturday, featured 35 teams from across the northeast.
Senior distance runner Mark Amirault took the spotlight on Friday after taking top honors in the mile in 4:03.00. Sophomore mid-distance runner Russell Dinkins took seventh in the 800m, finishing at 1:50.32. Freshman distance runner Michael Williams clocked in at 1:52.44 to take fifth in the fourth section, a personal record for Williams.
Junior distance runner Tyler King finished 13th out of 54 competitors in the steeplechase. His time, 9:05, outpaced his previous personal best by over 11 seconds.
The Tigers' momentum only grew over the course of Saturday’s competition. Dinkins, senior thrower Craig Pearce and junior pole-vaulter David Slovenski each took the top of the podium in their respective events. Across the field, Princeton saw impressive finishes and new personal records.
Dinkins’ 47.18-second finish led the Tigers to a 1-2-3 sweep in the 400m. Junior sprinter Austin Hollimon followed Dinkins closely, clocking in at 47.47 seconds; senior sprinter Mike Eddy crossed half a second later to take third, while freshman sprinter Tom Hopkins finished sixth. With dozens of schools competing, the 400m was comprised of 65 entrants overall.
Pearce led the field with a 62.70 hammer throw. Senior thrower George Abyad was among the top contenders in both the shot put and discus. His 16.56-meter shot put and 50.30-meter discus earned him second and third place, respectively.
Slovenski dominated the pole-vault, clearing 5.15 meters, while fellow junior vaulter Derek Hynes came in third at 4.95. Senior jumper Dion Lehman and Hopkins finished second and third, respectively, in the long jump, while freshman jumper Damon McLean followed in fifth. Senior jumper Garner McCloud finished fourth in his triple-jump.
In the 200m, Hollimon and sophomore sprinter Sebastian Steffen finished sixth and eighth, respectively. Steffen went on to finish ninth in the 100m.
Princeton saw similar successes on the women’s side of the meet. Senior throwers Thanithia Billings and Emma Ruggiero took first in the shot put and hammer throw, respectively. Billings threw 14.44 meters, while Ruggiero went for 57.51.
Sophomore pole vaulter Tory Worthen and sophomore mid-distance runner Greta Feldman snatched top honors in the pole vault and 800m. Worthen cleared 4.01 and Feldman clocked in at 2:10.68, a personal record.
Freshman Chelsea Cioffi's 39.59-meter throw was good for ninth in the discus. Cioffi also posted a personal best in the hammer throw. Freshman vaulter Samantha Anderson and sophomore Lauren Tauscher placed third and fifth, respectively, in the pole-vault.
Freshman jumper Imani Oliver took third on the triple-jump, followed by senior Bianca Williams, who took eighth. In the 100-meter hurdles, senior Biance Mathabane and classmate Lauren Barber finished 5th and 13th, respectively.

Sophomore jumper and sprinter Erin Guty, freshman sprinter Lily Miller, junior sprinter Eileen Moran and sophomore sprinter Abidemi Adenikinju placed second in the 4x100m relay, finishing with a time of 47.04.
The teams’ next competition will be next weekend at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Penn. The meet will be Princeton’s last stop before the Heptagonal Championships on May 7th and 8th.
