Support for Randall in USG run-off

Late last week The Daily Princetonian endorsed Josh Anderson '04 for USG President ("Anderson, Perlman for USG," Dec. 6, 2002). Despite strong support from the student body, Josh was unable to garner enough votes to win the election, leaving Sonya Mirbagheri '04 and Pettus Randall '04 in a runoff. Although The Daily Princetonian's endorsement did not speak to the qualifications of either of these two candidates, the one whose experience, platform and ability to reform USG most closely match the laudable attributes sought in a candidate by The Daily Princetonian is Pettus Randall '04.

A USG Senator, Pettus has revealed his natural leadership ability and dedication to concrete action on a wide range of issues. He has negotiated longer hours at Frist, fought against the Ivy League President's 7-week moratorium on athletic practices, and developed and implemented mechanisms to foster community for all students at Princeton. Pettus's presidential platform is student-focused, innovative, and — with Pettus's leadership and drive — achievable. He will continue to work on issues regarding student life — such as expanding access to facilities, improving career services, and creating more social options — and on those regarding academics — such as improving the academic advising system, reducing course material costs, and reforming precepts and writing seminars. Additionally, Pettus alone has the drive and ability to reinvigorate and reform the USG, allowing it to serve the interests of every student. He is and will continue to be — as our USG President — an organized, articulate and effective leader with an unrivaled vision for Princeton and an unbridled passion to improve undergraduate student life.

For a USG President who represents every student on this campus, who has a strong record of affecting meaningful changes and who has the integrity and leadership ability to most effectively represent Princeton students, vote Pettus Randall '04! Elizabeth P. Biney-Amissah, '04
