Today's 'Prince' marks the 126th managing board's 15th issue. During our first three weeks of publication, we have grown as a board and as a staff. We hope that this has translated into improved content and quality of the paper.
Our news section is covering more campus events and engaging more campus issues. Our sports section contains more analysis in columns and a greater breadth of team coverage. Like any newspaper, these stories have ranged from critical to complimentary of people and events that are important to the Princeton community.
These changes are manifested in a broader editorial page. We are running more letters from students, faculty and administrators that address sensitive and timely issues: from political debates between Professor Sean Wilentz and David Horowitz to students arguing over the role of administrators on campus.
We will continue to publish controversial editorial content and news coverage that encourages campus discussion. But within those goals, we will not allow our editorial page to become a forum for personal attacks or sacrifice accuracy in our reporting. We have run stories and letters that have stretched our editorial boundaries, but our decisions to publish these pieces are not made lightly. We stand behind the integrity of our reporters and our product.
When mistakes are made, we will correct them. Our readers may interpret stories and columns in any number of ways — and we will encourage them.
We can only improve the 'Prince' with your feedback. Three weeks ago we extended an invitation to submit letters, suggest news stories and critique photographs — and we have received responses. We look forward to your future submissions.
