Princeton community aids in quake relief

I would like to thank the Princeton University community for its overwhelming support in the India Quake Relief Drive. As of late February, items distributed in India from the campus include over 300 articles of clothing, 100 blankets, 100 pounds of ready-to-eat food and over $3,400 in donations, which was matched by the non-profit Infinity Foundation and donated to the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey Indian Earthquake Relief Fund.

Although the earthquake is no longer discussed in the news, international relief organizations are making the transition from emergency response to rehabilitation projects throughout the region. The January 26 quake that struck Gujarat took over 30,000 lives, injured 50,000 people and rendered over a million homeless.

Again, thank you for your unbelievable kindness, encouragement, prayers and generosity. Niraj Bhatt '03 Director, India Quake Relief Drive
