Tonight is a big night for football head coach Roger Hughes. After several weeks of spring training, the new Tiger coach will take command of the orange and black from the sidelines for the first time in a game situation.
Princeton will have an intrasquad game this evening at the Princeton University Stadium at 6:00 pm. The event should give Hughes and the rest of his coaching staff a chance to gauge how far the team has progressed, and just how much further it still has to go.
While the Tigers will look to Hughes for guidance off the field, leaders on the field will also get an opportunity to make an impression. Next year's lone captain, junior linebacker Michael Higgins, and junior quarterback Jon Blevins should provide the most vocal leadership on the field for the graduation-depleted Tigers. Princeton will be returning 13 starters next season after losing 10 seniors this year. The Tigers' other quarterback — sophomore Tommy Crenshaw — is still pitching for the baseball team and will not participate tonight.
Princeton's first regular season game will be held Sept. 16 at Lafayette.
