Princeton strung together back-to-back wins with decisive victories over Concordia Friday and NYU last Thursday. The Tigers evened up their record at 4-4 with the wins.
Against Concordia at Dillon Gym, the Tigers were never really threatened, taking the games 15-1, 15-12, 15-7. Concordia scored the first point of the first game to go up 1-0 but then saw senior outside Jeff Cooper serve up an ace to even up the score at one. The Tigers never looked back.
The second game was a bit more of a battle. Princeton jumped out to a 9-2 lead before Concordia staged a mini-comeback, helped by some Tiger defensive miscues, to narrow the score to 12-11. But Princeton tightened up its defense and held on to win, 15-12.
The Tigers were not challenged in the the final game, as head coach Glenn Nelson used most of his reserves in the 15-7 triumph. Junior Brandon Vegter led the Tigers with 9 kills and 3 blocks.
Princeton travels to Vassar tonight before coming home this weekend to face Springfield.
