Submit a Tip

Signal (recommended)

The Daily Princetonian is excited to announce a new way to submit anonymous tips securely to our newsroom. The ‘Prince’ now has a central Signal tipline, where you may anonymously submit information that may help our reporting. Signal is an industry standard secure messaging application that is used by major media organizations such as The Associated Press, The New York Times, and The Washington Post to receive tips.

Signal is free and end-to-end encrypted. Signal also offers you the ability to set “disappearing messages,” so that messages are deleted a certain amount of time after they are read. Signal also allows you to send files. You can download Signal for your phone here.

Anyone with a phone number may create a Signal account. Additionally, you can choose to hide your phone number so that the ‘Prince’ cannot see your phone number when you contact us. Signal also allows our reporters to directly respond to your tip without revealing your identity, so that we can more easily follow up on your information.

Although our current web form for tips will continue to be monitored, tips via Signal are more secure and allow us to better follow up on your information and contact you, which increases the likelihood that we can act on your tip.

The Daily Princetonian’s Signal username is @DailyPrincetonian.76
